FORD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND THE FORD FOUNDATION PRESENT THE THIRD ANNUAL CHERYL MUSIAL SCIENCE AWARD

KENNESAW, GA – May 13, 2014 – Mopdog Creative + Strategy’s (Mopdog) Chief Strategy Officer, Cheryl Musial, Ford Elementary School and the Ford Elementary School Foundation presented the Cheryl Musial Science Award to 28 kindergarten through fifth grade students on Thursday, May 8, 2014. The students were selected by their classroom teacher and Colleen Cauffiel, Ford Elementary Schools S.T.E.M. teacher, for their academic excellence in the area of science.

Ford Elementary School Foundation (FESF), established in 2005, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing enhanced educational opportunities that otherwise would not be a part of the Ford Elementary School instructional program. Through FESF’s efforts, a “Hands-on Science Lab” was created and has been funded since 2009.  In 2012, FESF established the “Cheryl Musial Science Award” in honor of the efforts of by Cheryl Musial, who was integral leadership of the FESF and its efforts to keep science at the forefront with the students at Ford Elementary School.

Award recipients include: kindergarten: Owen Buckert, Blake Devis, David Purser and Zoe Rylander; first grade: James Collins, Samuel Joyner, Adam Peterson, Henry Rohulich and Evan Rollins; second grade: Florian Arntz, Thomas Harper, Miranda Johnson and Avery Rylander; third grade: Evan Cole, Geoffrey Doleys, Taylor Mason, Hayden Steinlight and Barrett Wilson; fourth grade: Henry Harders, Andres Pulido, Wyatt Sligh, Natalie Stevenson and Holly Tomblin; fifth grade: Tabitha Dentice, Emily Nettles, Lauren Ray, Ben Vanrensselaer and Zoey Weir.

It’s important to support and foster a love of science and technology from a young age,” said Ms. Musial. “I am honored to be able to recognize such bright students and applaud their parents, families, teachers, Partners in Education and the Ford Foundation for their continued support of the students at Ford Elementary School.”
